Arizona Representation for Out-of-State Businesses

Accomplished Arizona Attorneys Provide Representation for Out-of-State Businesses

Trustworthy counsel for transactions and litigation in Phoenix and beyond

Virtually on a daily basis a business from out of state or out of the country business relocates to, or locates a branch or subsidiary in, Arizona. Naturally, the firm will want local legal counsel to establish or “domesticate” its presence in Arizona, to provide advice about Arizona business, employment and intellectual property law, and to draft its sales, service, employment and distributorship agreements accordingly. The Law Offices of Donald W. Hudspeth P.C. in Phoenix handles many such clients and are well-versed in the steps to be taken.

If your company is headquartered in another state or outside the United States but does business in Arizona, it’s vitally important to have reliable legal counsel here. Given our decades of success as a business transaction and litigation law firm, we are the ideal choice to manage your local affairs. Whether you’re looking for guidance on implementing your development plan in Arizona or you need a skilled litigation team with knowledge of the local courts and personnel, we deliver the quality service and positive results you expect from an accomplished and reputable law firm.

One stop shopping for national and international clients.

But in addition to the above the Law Offices of Donald W. Hudspeth P.C. provide a unique service to and for out of state clients. Companies new to Arizona may want to have contacts in government and finance. This is important for compliance and growth. Some may qualify assistance from the various municipalities or state. The Law Offices of Donald W. Hudspeth P.C. has a “team” approach to representing out of state clients. We can introduce you to representatives of the city, state and financial institutions, together in our offices. This is particularly helpful for international clients.

Litigation support in the courts of Arizona

Companies doing business in Arizona are subject to the jurisdiction of the state courts for various liability issues. If an Arizona resident sues your company in state court, you can be seriously disadvantaged. Although justice is supposed to be blind, out-of-state defendants often feel as though the local plaintiff has a distinct home-court advantage. You can try to remove the case to federal court, but these motions don’t always succeed. Representation from a local law firm can help to restore balance to the proceedings. Our attorneys know the local rules and the court personnel, so we can offer valuable guidance to prevent missteps that often occur when attorneys are practicing far from home. Moreover, we have insights into Arizona law, which may be subtly or substantially different from the prevailing law of your home state.

If a motion to remove the lawsuit to federal court succeeds, your team can still benefit from local counsel who know the federal courts in Arizona. Our attorneys have litigated numerous high-stakes cases in the federal courts in our district. We can provide the local support your litigation team needs.

Finally, if your in-house counsel is not certified to practice in Arizona, we can take the lead on any litigation in state or federal court. After decades of practice, our courtroom skills are well-honed, so you can have confidence in our ability to pursue the best possible results in your case.

Registered agent for businesses expanding into Arizona

Arizona’s economy is growing along with its population. If your company is expanding into Arizona, our business law firm is ready to help. All foreign companies doing business within Arizona must have a registered agent to handle various tasks, including:

  • Receiving official correspondence from the Arizona Secretary of State
  • Receiving state compliance information from the state
  • Receiving service of process from plaintiffs filing claims against your business

As your registered agent, we can also make sure that your annual report and taxes are filed in accordance with Arizona law.

If you are sued, we can act as your local counsel to ensure that responses and motions are filed accurately and in a timely manner. We understand the anxiety you, as a business owner, can experience when litigation arises in a distant jurisdiction. With our Phoenix business lawyers on your side, you can have complete confidence as you plan your strategy for addressing the underlying issues. With our input and participation, you’ll never lack for local resources to support your business goals.
