Law On The Edge

Although ostensibly about sex, the underlying themes of this book relate to political, philosophical, ethics, psychology, sociology, and religion. In particular, the book consists of a series of interviews with the protagonists of the adult services industry including: cabaret association lobbyists, interest groups opposing it, political action committees, hate crime experts, and constitutional lawyers. The main issues are (1) the proper role of government in our society and (2) the psychological and sociological lending one to enter into, remain in, or leave the adult services industry.

A prominent sub-theme is the issue of "victimization." some argue that women are the victims of a male dominated society, but others, particularly some of the women themselves argue, that it is a paternalistic viewpoint and a carry over from the old patriarchal society. Others argue that the men are victims. Still others argue that it comes down to the individual, that is, in some cases women are vicitims due to low self-esteem and in other cases the men are for the same or other reasons.
